Description

Introduction from Iain McIver
Senior Researcher · Scottish Parliament Information Centre (SPICe)

While Brexit remains the predominant political question for Scotland and the UK, the remaining EU member states (the EU27) are largely preoccupied by other priorities – including the Eurozone, external migration, populism, the rule of law and geopolitics. The EU27 will continue to move forward after Brexit and, regardless of the shape of the future EU-UK relationship, the Union will influence politics and policy in Scotland and the UK. This seminar will explore major political, internal and external challenges facing the EU, their consequences for the Brexit process and the central questions facing the 27 as they define the EU’s future.
