Description

This event is the first in a series of informal meetings with EU policy practitioners that we will organise in the Lent term. By contrast with classic public lectures, we aim to provide an informal atmosphere by limiting the number of attendees to a smaller group. The idea is to have an interactive and lively exchange with our guest and the meeting is meant to be based on questions and answers. Our speaker is Michael Connarty, a Labour Member of UK Parliament. He chaired the Commons European Scrutiny Committee from 2005 to 2010 and is the UK delegate to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe. The event will cover views on European affairs, career paths and the typical day of an MP on the European Scrutiny Committee.
