The Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP), an economic (and political) agreement between the United States and the European Union, has the potential to reshape global trade. Currently under negotiation, TTIP has proved highly polarising, with questions raised about the democratic legitimacy of the process and the potential ramifications for health and safety standards and public services. Having recently visited Washington DC on a European Parliament trade delegation, David Martin will offer his perspective on TTIP and how he sees EU-US relations going forward.
